" This type of housing Our Casas is building is direly needed as it renews a neighborhood and creates long-term economic benefit for the families to become homeowners. It also generates property taxes where before there was vacant land."

Our Casas is now taking applications from families or individuals interested in buying the homes on 2427 and 2423 Chihuahua Street (on the corner of North Hamilton and Chihuahua Street) with three bedrooms and two baths that will be ready for a qualified first-time homeowner in the fall of this year. Since Our Casas uses City of San Antonio/HOME federal funds to keep the price of the home affordable, the first-time homeowners need to have a family income that is 80% or less of the area's median income (for a family of four this translates to an income of $59,300 or less). The family must still make enough money and have a credit score and other financial matters to qualify for a mortgage from a lender. If you feel that you qualify, please call Our Casas at 210 354 2400 or email us at ourcasas@stic.net or send a message via this website for more information and to start your application. Our Casas' HUD-certified housing counselor, Juan Gutierrez, can help you get your financial matters in order. Thanks to the City of San Antonio HOME program and the San Antonio Affordable Housing program, LISC of San Antonio, and the San Antonio Housing Trust for their financial support and technical assistance.
Crockett National Bank of San Angelo and San Antonio donated $25,000 to Our Casas to provide housing services to low and moderate-income families in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Many thanks to Crockett National Bank!
Board President Nick Pena, Treasurer Lupe Torres, and ED Zeke Romo attended the State of the Westside 2022 sponsored by Prosper West SA to review the economic status and future of the Westside of San Antonio. Councilwoman Teri Castillo, District 5, said everyone who moves forward needs to help others move forward. Cong. Joaquin said Austin has some good people but we need to ensure we don't replicated the gentrification and displacement that has happened in East Austin.
